Fenstermaker Engineers Earn Professional Engineer Distinction


Fenstermaker Engineers Karim Kheiashy, P.E. and David Girouard, P.E. have earned the designation of Registered Professional Engineer for the State of Louisiana. The Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board recently recognized Kheiashy and Girouard for successfully completing the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) examination.

Raymond Reaux, Vice President of the firm's Engineering Division, noted "Karim provides Fenstermaker clients with expert knowledge in the complex arena of Coastal Restoration as a water resources engineer and David possesses an exacting engineering approach to complex traffic and transportation infrastructure demands."

Kheiashy has been with Fenstermaker since 2002. As an experienced engineering professional, he has participated in a wide array of projects for the federal, state and private sector in the fields of water resources and coastal engineering. Kheiashy is currently involved in a study that is a part of the United States Army Corps of Engineers - Louisiana Comprehensive Coastal Protection and Restoration (LACPR) program. He is a doctoral candidate in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of New Orleans and is also pursuing his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Kheiashy is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE), Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) and the American Water Resources Association (AWRA).

Girouard began with Fenstermaker in July of 2006. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 2001 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He performs research and development for feasibility studies including geometric concepts, purpose and need, cost estimates, concept plans, and feasibility reports. His past projects include research and development of a grade separated interchange at the intersection of US Hwy 90 and La Hwy 318 in St. Mary Parish, roadway facility improvements of La Hwy 42 from Airline Hwy to La 44 in Ascension Parish, a new urban roadway in Iberville Parish, a new frontage road in Acadia Parish, and a $1.5M water system upgrade for the City of Youngsville.
