Project: Calcasieu Parish Stormwater Master Plan
Client: Calcasieu Parish Police Jury
Scope: Topographic Survey, Hydraulic and Hydrologic Numerical Modeling, Engineering Design
The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury is in the process of developing a Comprehensive Stormwater Master Plan that will address flooding issues within the Parish. This Parish-wide Comprehensive Stormwater Master Plan is being developed progressively through the completion of Stormwater Master Plans for nine individual basins. Fenstermaker has been awarded contracts by the Parish to complete six of nine basins being analyzed.
The Hydraulic & Hydrologic team within Fenstermaker's Engineering Division is developing these Stormwater Master Plans in order to better understand the Calcasieu Parish drainage system and to evaluate existing and future drainage issues. Fenstermaker's team of experts created computer models to assess the existing conditions and to evaluate strategies to enhance the efficiency of the drainage systems. The computer models are being used to identify channel cleaning needs, assess structure capacities, develop a maintenance plan, develop alternatives to remediate localized flooding, and to recommend areas for future development within these studied areas. The results of these analyses, as well as alternative cost comparisons, are presented to the parish in a detailed format with supplemental tables, graphs and maps.
