What does this internship entail?

The Survey & Mapping Student Intern will utilize their current knowledge of survey practices, mathematics, communication, and other physical sciences to assist in the planning and execution of survey projects under the supervision of a Licensed Land Surveyor and/or Senior Survey Project Manager. Projects and tasks will involve the use of various survey and mapping software programs as well as Microsoft Office applications. The Survey & Mapping Student Intern will be a champion and leader of our company core values while maintaining internal and external customer engagement and satisfaction.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Shadowing the survey practices and procedures of a Licensed Land Survey Professional to help determine the location of property boundaries.
  • Observing a Survey Project Manager’s daily duties including field crew coordination, client engagement, data analysis and interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Helping in the development of technical proposals for future projects.
  • Plotting legal descriptions and recording survey plat parcels.
  • Assisting in the attribution of survey grade linework for inclusion into Fenstermaker’s archiving system.
  • Coordinating with field crews to collect project specific survey information.
  • Developing project methodology reports.
  • Generating survey plats, maps and other deliverables.
  • Completing a presentation to management of internship experience.

Am I qualified for this position?

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Civil, Survey & Mapping program from a nationally accredited community college or university
  • Must have completed at least 29 hours of college coursework (Community College)
    • 60 hours of college coursework (University)
  • Ability to work outside for days at a time
  • Ability to excel in individual and team environments
  • Authorized to work in the United States
