Tonia began her HMA (Hazard Mitigation Assistance) career at GOHSEP in 2006. She served GOHSEP for 10 years. She began as a Team Lead, progressed to a Group Lead, and then Tonia joined FEMA in 2016 as the Director/Branch Chief of HMA programs for the Louisiana Recovery Office. In 2018, Tonia joined IEM as a State Applicant Liaison and served in this position for three years. IEM transferred her to work with the Puerto Rico HMA project before being recruited by Gary O’Neal to join the Fenstermaker Grants team as a Grants Specialist. Tonia’s area of expertise is the development and management of HMA grants.
In addition to over 16 years of experience, Tonia received Technical degrees from South Louisiana Community College and the Associated Builders and Contractors.

When she’s not hard at work, Tonia loves to travel with her “traveling buddy” sister – often visiting New York City once a year, along with other exciting destinations. She’s also an avid reader, swimmer, and loves to shop. She enjoys spending time with her growing family of husband, two grown children, and three young grandchildren.
