Underwater Acoustic Imaging, Acoustic Analysis
Current (started in 2011)
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD) selected Fenstermaker for the underwater and structural inspections of state maintained dams.
As the prime consulting firm, Fenstermaker will work with sub-consultants ARCADIS and Specialty Diving to fulfill the statewide retainer for 20 dams. In the past 2 years, Fenstermaker has inspected 15 of the State-maintained dams for DOTD using our Underwater Acoustic Imaging (UAI). This second contract represents a significant milestone in Fenstermaker’s relationship with LA DOTD’s Public Works and Water Resource Section, as well as a great opportunity to expand our Underwater Acoustic Services (UAS) beyond state lines.
Fast becoming an industry leader in Underwater Acoustic Imaging and High Definition Scanning, Fenstermaker is able to maximize the effectiveness of these highly precise technologies. Having worked on the first statewide dam inspections, Fenstermaker understands the technical intricacies of such a project, as well as the long-term concerns. In the event of failure or malfunction, dams have the potential to present a risk to public safety and to Louisiana’s economic infrastructure. To reduce this risk, Fenstermaker will complete the necessary inspections accurately to identify deficiencies and recommend steps for remediation or rehabilitation.
Fenstermaker remains the only Louisiana based company to use UAI of this specification. Configured by our Underwater Acoustics Group, these systems maximize performance and resolution even in shallow brown water environments. Our underwater acoustics staff shares more than 25 years of experience in underwater imaging and measurement systems and can provide unparalleled capabilities in acoustic applications, analysis, and interpretation.
