Lake Charles sidewalks, where design and life intersect.
When Heather Gardner LeJeune first put on a safety vest with Fenstermaker, she was inspecting sidewalks for the City of Lake Charles. Today, those same sidewalks are part of her family’s daily rhythm—no longer just pavement, but possibility, a space shaped for living.
💬 “It’s kind of cool,” she says with quiet pride, “to see a project you were part of being used in the community—and using it yourself.”
For a civil engineer, these moments are milestones.
They mark the transformation of
‣ lines on a plan into
‣ living infrastructure,
serving neighbors and strengthening community.
Our most senior engineers often reflect on this joy years later; Heather is experiencing it early, a glimpse of the pride and purpose that can span decades in this profession.
Her story is also a reflection of our culture at Fenstermaker. Here, emerging engineers don’t walk alone—they are guided by mentors who share their wisdom generously, cultivating potential and guiding the journey from student to professional.
This is the culture we’re proud of at Fenstermaker:
‣ Mentorship that multiplies knowledge, pulling potential forward
‣ Guidance that grows confidence and responsibility
‣ Infrastructure built with community at the core
Heather Gardner LeJeune’s journey in Lake Charles reflects this truth—civil engineering is not only about building infrastructure, but about building belonging. Done with purpose and heart, its impact is measured not in concrete, but in people, community, and connection.
