It is with profound sorrow and immense respect that we remember our colleague, teammate, and friend, Matthew Strickland, P.E., who passed away on May 22 after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Matt joined Fenstermaker in January of 2018 as a Senior Engineer in our Lake Charles office, already a licensed Professional Engineer in Mississippi.

That same year, he earned his Louisiana PE—a milestone that spoke to his drive, his discipline, and a steady pursuit of excellence in a field that demanded his best—and received it.

He earned the respect of his peers not only through his engineering expertise, but through his quiet leadership, calm confidence, and the genuine care he showed for those he worked alongside.

Matt brought thoughtfulness and precision to his work—his contributions strengthening our infrastructure and our team in equal measure.

Over the past two years, Matt maintained extraordinary strength. He remained grounded in his values and his faith, fully present for the people around him—an enduring testament to the kind of man he was.

Matt’s legacy lives on through the relationships he nurtured, the projects he led, and the family he so deeply cherished. Our hearts are with his wife Kelly, his son Tate, and all who loved him.
