Some places serve more than coffee—they serve community.
Local businesses like The Coffee Depot don’t just fuel mornings—
they become part of the city’s story, shaping its character and identity.
For Mayor Jan-Scott Richard, this spot is personal.
Decades ago, his uncle ran a feed and seed store in this very building, just steps from his grandparents’ home.
Today, thanks to Jeff and Sarah Laughlin’s vision, it’s been transformed into a gathering place rich with
‣ history,
‣ connection, and
‣ the everyday stories that make Scott, Louisiana special.
As he says in our conversation, they’ve created “a sense of place”—a space where community feels like family, and where the past and present meet over coffee and beignets.
