Partnering with Iberia Parish Government on critical infrastructure improvements along LA-3212—engineered support of First Solar’s $1.1 billion investment in a 2.4 million square foot manufacturing facility in New Iberia, Louisiana.
Fenstermaker led the design of roadway widening and the addition of dedicated turn lanes at the site’s main entrances, ensuring improved access and enhanced traffic flow to accommodate the region’s growing industrial activity.
In addition to design, our team is overseeing construction inspection throughout the project’s duration, providing quality assurance and continuity from concept through completion. These improvements are part of a broader commitment to advancing Iberia Parish’s economic future through infrastructure built to serve both current needs and long-term development.
Fenstermaker Civil Engineer Patrick Fenstermaker provides insight into construction progress, highlighting:
→ Installation of asphalt wearing course and concrete drive tie-ins
→ Superelevation refinements based on a 55 mph design speed
→ Subgrade and fill work to support added lanes and shoulders
→ Utility and pipeline coordination requiring Letters of No Objection (LoNOs)
→ LADOTD-approved roadway modeling and typical sections
A $2.2M roadway enhancement, this project was awarded to Glenn Lege Construction and is being executed on an accelerated schedule aligned with First Solar’s development timeline.
From environmental permitting to final design and field inspection, this initiative reflects the strength of public-private partnership and a shared vision for industrial readiness in Iberia Parish.
