🌿 Living Systems, Lasting Impact
At the Louisiana Association of Professional Biologists Annual Symposium, the energy in the room was palpable—
‣ students,
‣ scientists, and
‣ mentors
gathered with shared purpose: to advance the science that sustains Louisiana’s living systems.
From welcome to final remarks, the event reflected what authentic collaboration in our field looks like.
Conversations moved easily between research posters and presentations; ideas traveled from data to dialogue, from theory to practice.
For our team at Fenstermaker, it was a moment of both
‣ pride, and
‣ perspective.
To see colleagues presenting, moderating, and mentoring was to witness the next generation stepping confidently into the work of conservation and restoration.
In one conversation, Dr. John Foret reflected on the honor of
‣ paying it forward.
That sentiment carried through every corner of the symposium—through doctoral research shared, coastal restoration discussed, and connections made that will outlast the event itself.
In a profession defined by
‣ ecosystems, and
‣ interdependence
gatherings like this remind us that people, too, are part of the system—and that sharing knowledge is its own kind of restoration.
