Scott’s $3.8 Million Apollo Road Utility Project Prepares Corridor for Growth

The roadway is in place.
Now, the infrastructure is preparing the corridor for what comes next.

Along Apollo Road in Scott, Louisiana, a $3.8 million investment in water and wastewater infrastructure is helping lay the groundwork for future residential and commercial development.

The City’s Apollo Road Extension Utilities Phase 2 project builds on years of planning and investment, extending critical infrastructure along the corridor between Dulles Drive and JB Road. These improvements follow Fenstermaker’s earlier work on the Apollo Road Phase II roadway project, which established a vital connection through the community.

It’s the next step in a vision carried forward by generations of city leadership—one focused on improving connectivity, addressing infrastructure needs, and creating new opportunities for the community.

Much of the work is happening beneath the surface.

Crews are installing:

• 12-inch water mains along one side of the roadway
• 8-inch water lines and fire hydrants to provide service and fire protection
• Sanitary sewer infrastructure extending approximately 20 feet underground in certain areas
• A new sewer lift station and force main to help transport wastewater through the collection system

The depth of the sewer system is particularly significant. Designed to accommodate connections from properties extending beyond the roadway, the infrastructure requires specialized excavation methods and protective trench systems during construction.

But the engineering challenge extends beyond installation.

By anticipating the demands of future development, the project is designed to provide the capacity and connections needed as the surrounding properties grow, reducing the likelihood of costly infrastructure modifications later.

Infrastructure that supports today’s needs while preparing for tomorrow’s opportunities.

In this field update, City of Scott Mayor Jan-Scott Richard shares the long-term vision behind Apollo Road and its potential to become an economic hub for the community.

Fenstermaker engineer Ian Trahan provides insight into the engineering decisions shaping the water and sewer improvements, including the challenges of designing underground infrastructure to serve future development.

Through continued collaboration with the City of Scott, Fenstermaker is helping advance a vision years in the making—one that connects communities, supports investment, and prepares the corridor for the next chapter of Scott’s growth.
