Fenstermaker is the lead design firm for the US 90 (I-49 South) Design-Build project to widen US 90 from four to six lanes. This section will be integrated into the proposed I-49 South Corridor. The expansion begins at Albertson’s Parkway and continues to the Ambassador Caffery interchange. Improvements to the roadway will include several miles of frontage roads and multiple overpasses. Some of the main elements of the six lane mainline roadway project as put forth by the Louisiana Department of Transportation (LA DOTD) include an overpass at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, a grade separation at Albertson’s Parkway and improved connectivity between US 90 and LA 182.
The US 90 (I-49 South) project includes a new grade-separated interchange and overpass bridge structures. For this portion of the project, Fenstermaker serves as the primary sub-consultant to James Construction Group in providing roadway and drainage design, utility coordination, construction sequence plans and the management of seven sub-consultants. Construction of Phase I column bents for the new 6-lane BNSF bridge structure.
