Austin Doucet, P.E., our Lake Charles Office Manager, provides an overview of the work underway in Westlake, LA, where we’re supporting the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury with critical repairs along McGuire Road.

Subsurface drainage issues beneath this corridor have led to pavement failure, and addressing them requires a detailed, coordinated effort.

What looks simple at ground level is anything but. Before construction begins, our survey team captures roadway elevations and maps drainage patterns to fully understand the problem.

And once underground, the complexity becomes clear:

• Navigating around existing power poles
• Coordinating with the City of Westlake’s gas team
• Protecting active gas, water, and sewer lines
• Ensuring services remain uninterrupted for residents

As Austin explains in the video, every utility and every decision directly influences safety, reliability, and quality of life for the surrounding community.
